Patient Information - Stage 4 Practice Update
We hope you are well and in relatively good spirits after a week of heavy announcements. It's certainly a lot to process and our hearts are with those of you that have been impacted by the transition into stage 4 restrictions.
This update includes what you need to know about our services during the lock down.
We are happy to advise clients that under the stage 4 restrictions, we are an essential service and can remain open to care for clients as we have been.
Our East Melbourne and Armadale practices are open for in-practice and Telehealth consultations, this includes 1:1 clinical physio sessions.
There have been no major changes to the services we offer from stage 3 to stage 4. Physiotherapy, remedial massage and dietetic services are available.
You do not need a referral to attend - it was suggested this week that clients would need a GP or specialist referral to attend in person if they didn't already have one, however this advice has been withdrawn. There is no need to obtain a referral if you have an upcoming appointment with us.
You are permitted to travel outside your 5km radius for your appointment. Seeking health care is an essential reason to leave home. Your booking confirmation or SMS reminder can be used as proof of travel. Our reception team can also provide you with a letter.
Our group clinical physio and exercise classes will remain paused until further notice. In the meantime, clients can continue with a 1:1 in-practice and our live stream classes.
For clients who are staying home, self-isolating or just don't want to change out of their PJ's, Telehealth is a fantastic option to continue care at home. It provides a safe, interactive platform for assessment, education and management. Telehealth holds a great amount of benefit and all conditions we treat at Fitwise can be addressed via an online consultation. If you are unsure if Telehealth will work for you, we are happy to arrange a call back from one of our physiotherapists who can discuss how it will work for your condition specifically.
We continue to operate with our strict screening and hygiene protocols in place. We thank our clients for their cooperation in keeping our community safe.
We are grateful that we can remain open to care for you during this time, both in-person and virtually. We want clients to know that whatever your circumstance, we are here for you.
To discuss your care options, please contact our reception team at your preferred location.
Visiting the practice? Here is what you need to know:
Providing you are well, seeking treatment from a physiotherapist is an essential reason to leave home. The Chief Medical Officer recommends that it's imperative you continue to seek treatment and manage health concerns and conditions through lock down.

- A health status questionnaire to be completed before attending or upon entry
- A temperature check upon entry to the practice
- Hospital grade hand sanister upon entry and throughout the practice
- Social distancing measures and person capacity limits
- All staff at Fitwise have completed the COVID-19 infection control government training course
- Following advice from the Chief Medical Officer, all staff and patients will be required to wear a surgical mask at all times
- Regular cleaning inline with our COVID-19 infection control policy. To view our infection control policy, please click here.
Our first priority is ensuring you feel safe and comfortable, if you'd like to discuss anything before your appointment, please contact our reception team at your preferred location who are happy to assist.
Not visiting the practice? Here is what we can do for you at home:
If you are unwell, self-isolating, staying home/limiting your travel - we can still care for you. We are able to address all conditions that we treat in-practice via an online consultation. Our practitioners can provide thorough assessments, tailored advice, education and home exercise programs to keep you progressing your health care from home. If you do have any concerns a physiotherapist can assist with, while we have more time at home it's a good time to look after yourself and book an appointment.
Telehealth consultations are claimable on private health insurance if you have the appropriate extra's cover, they are also rebatable by Medicare for clients who hold a valid Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan.
For questions regarding cost and rebates, please contact our reception staff. We have recently re-adjusted our pricing schedule, so that clients can access essential care during these tough times.
Thank you again for all your messages of support and kindness shown to our team while we juggle these changes. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please stay well, look after yourself and others and we look forward to continuing to care for you during this period.
